*Intervista del 4 agosto 2020
Autentico trascinatore dell’ÍF Fuglafjørður, dal suo arrivo sull’arcipelago ha convinto tutti con prestazioni di alto livello. Ovviamente avete capito che parlo di Uroš Stojanov, attaccante serbo con cui ho avuto il piacere di parlare in questi giorni. L’ÍF è l’autentica sorpresa di questo campionato, dopo una stagione 2019 difficilissima. Andiamo a conoscere meglio la situazione attuale del club e ovviamente anche il nostro protagonista!
ICN: Ciao! Hai giocato in Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Cipro, Thailandia e adesso nelle isole Fær Øer, il tutto a soli 31 anni! Puoi raccontarci qualcosa su questo incredibile viaggio e dirci cosa rappresenta per te il Calcio?
US: Ciao. Ho giocato in parecchi Paesi e posso dirti che ognuno di questi è stato speciale per molti aspetti. Stile calcistico, condizioni meteo, stile di vita, popolo, cultura. Ad esempio la Thailandia è stata una grande esperienza. Gli abitanti erano sempre sorridenti, il Calcio è sicuramente diverso da quello Europeo e il cibo è unico. Adesso sono nelle Fær Øer, che sono qualcosa di totalmente diverso dall’Asia ma sono contento qui. Sto facendo bene con 11 gol e il momentaneo primo posto nella classifica cannonieri che mi rende felice. Starò qui almeno per altri due anni!
ICN: Dal giorno in cui tu, Djordjevic e Budakovic siete arrivati, l’ÍF è totalmente cambiato, ottenendo grandi risultati. Cosa avete portato in questo gruppo che probabilmente prima mancava?
US: Nella scorsa stagione l’ÍF ha ottenuto brutti risultati e quando ho avuto la possibilità di venire qui, ho accettato perché sapevo che saremmo stati una squadra nettamente migliore di quella della scorsa stagione e avevo ragione. Stiamo facendo bene e penso che i tifosi siano soddisfatti.
ICN: Quali sono gli obiettivi del club per questa stagione?
US: Per questa stagione è semplicemente quello di fare più punti possibili e migliorare la squadra in vista del prossimo anno. Poi proveremo a combattere per un posto in Europa.
ICN: Abbiamo parlato degli obiettivi dell’ÍF, ma quali sono i tuoi? In questo momento sei il Capocannoniere del campionato. Quanti gol pensi di poter segnare? 20? 25? Hai un limite di gol da voler necessariamente superare?
US: È difficile da dire. Prima dell’inizio della stagione sarei stato contento con 10-12 gol totali, ma adesso credo di poterne realizzare anche 17-18 se continuo così. Anche 20, chissà!
ICN: Hai impressionato tutti sin dalla prima partita. Hai mostrato grande abilità in area di rigore e di sentirti subito bene in questo campionato. Puoi spiegarci perché l’inizio è stato cosi facile per te e quali sono le maggiori differenze tra Calcio Faroese e Calcio Serbo?
US: Ho avuto grande supporto da Filip (Djordjevic) all’inizio con i suoi assist e questo mi ha aiutato molto per segnare alcuni gol. Ero già in grande forma ad inizio campionato, tutto coincideva e quindi tutto è andato bene. La differenza tra quei due tipi di Calcio è lo stile. Qui giochiamo tante palle lunghe mentre in Serbia teniamo il pallone a terra, qui abbiamo molti duelli fisici soprattutto aerei mentre in Serbia il Calcio è molto più tattico.
ICN: Storicamente, gli atleti Serbi hanno una grandissima capacità di adattarsi ai campionati esteri. In Serie A abbiamo tanti calciatori Serbi che giocano ad altissimi livelli e ci hanno sempre impressionato per la capacità di adattarsi e imparare la lingua rapidamente. Come spiegheresti questa vostra grande capacità?
US: Non ho una reale spiegazione ma siamo davvero una nazione talentuosa, possiamo adattarci velocemente a qualsiasi situazione e questo è il nostro grande vantaggio.
ICN: Come stai vivendo questi primi mesi sull’arcipelago? Ti piace vivere li? Che ne pensi del popolo Faroese?
US: All’inizio era difficile, il clima era sempre pessimo, tantissimo vento e neve ma mi sono abituato velocemente. Adesso infatti non ho più nessun tipo di problema e mi piace qui. Il popolo Faroese è gentile, cercano di aiutarmi sempre per qualsiasi tipo di problema, per cui non posso che dire belle cose sul loro conto.
ICN: Sinceramente, quanto conoscevi della Betri-Deildin prima di venirci a giocare? Adesso cosa ne pensi?
US: Onestamente non sapevo nulla. Ho imparato giorno dopo giorno questa cultura calcistica. Credo che nel campionato Faroese ci siamo molti buoni giocatori, la qualità continua a migliorare ogni anno.
ICN: Da ragazzino ti ispiravi a qualche calciatore per migliorare il tuo stile di gioco?
US: Si, mi piaceva lo stile di Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Era il mio attaccante preferito.
ICN: Ultima domanda. Segui il Calcio Italiano? C’è un calciatore che ti piace particolarmente? Tifi per una squadra?
US: Si, lo seguo e la mia squadra preferita è la Lazio sin dai tempi di Mihajlovic e Stankovic.
Conclude l’intervista citando due fortissimi giocatori Serbi che hanno reso ancora più grande la Serie A negli ultimi decenni. A rendere grande l’ÍF invece ci sta pensando a suon di gol il nostro Uroš Stojanov che voglio ringraziare per il suo tempo e la sua disponibilità, con l’augurio che possa realizzare tutte le sue ambizioni!

ICN: Hi! You have played in Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Cyprus, Thailand, now in Faroe Islands and you are only 31! Can you tell us about this incredible journey and what football represents for you?
US: I have played in several countries and i can say that all of them are special in many aspects. Football style, weather conditions, also style of living, people, culture.. I can say for me Thailand is great experiance. People are always with smile, football is also different then here in Europe, food is unique as well… Right now i am at Faroe Islands, something completly different then Asia but i am happy here, doing very well so far with 11 goals and at the moment i am top scorer so i must be very happy. I will be here at least for 2 more years.
ICN: Since the day, you, Djordjevic e Budakovic arrived, IF has totally changed, achieving great results. What did you bring into this group that was previously probably missing?
US: Last year IF had bad results, when i got chance to come i accepted cuz i knew it it will be much better team then previous year and i was right. We are doing well and i think all fans are very satisfied.
ICN: What are club’s goals for this season?
US: For this season is to get points as much as we can and upgrade team for next year, then we will try to fight for place in Europe.
ICN: We talked about IF’s objectives but what are yours? In this moment you are the best scorer in the league. How many goals do you think you can score? 20? 25? Do you have “a limit to overcome”?
US: It’s hard to say, before season i would be happy with 10-12 but right now i think i can reach 17-18 if i continiuo like this, maybe 20 who knows
ICN: You have impressed everyone since the first match. You have shown an excellent ability in the penalty area and to feel immediately good in this championship. Could you tell us why the beginning was so simple for you and what are the biggest differences between Faroese and Serbian football?
US: I had great support from Filip at the biggining with his assist and that help me a lot to score few goals, i was in good shape at start of the season and everything coincided so had success. Different is in style, here we play more long balls in Serbia is more on the ground, here we have more duels, air duels as well, in Serbia is more tactical football
ICN: Serbian athlets have a great ability to adapt to foreign leagues. In Serie A we have many Serbian footballers of the highest level and we have always been impressed by their way of adapting and learning the language quickly. Could you give us an explanation to this great capacity of yours?
US: I don’t have explanation for that, simple we are talented nation, we can adapt very quickly so i think that is our biggest advantage
ICN: How are you experiencing these first months in Faroe Islands? Do you like living there? What do you think of Faroese people?
US: At the beggining was didficult, weather was bad, lot of wind, snow but i get used to it quickly. So now i dont have any troubles, i like here. Faroese people are nice, they are trying to help for every problem, so i can say only good words for them
ICN: How much did you know about the Faroese championship before coming to play? Now what do you think?
US: I didnt know anything honestly. I was learning day by day about football here. I think Faroes league has many good players, quality is better and better every year.
ICN: As a kid, were you inspired by some great player to improve your game?
US: I liked style of Ruud Van Nistelrooy, he was my favourite striker
ICN: The last question. Do you follow Italian football? Is there any player you particularly like (even from the past)? Are you supporting a team?
US: I’m following ofc, my favorite team is Lazio, since Mihajlovic and Stankovic played there.
We conclude the interview by citing two great Serbian players who have made Serie A even bigger in recent decades. Our Uroš Stojanov make the ÍF great in this moment and I want to thank him for his time and his availability. I wish him all the best with the hope that he will fulfill all his ambitions!
